The Wood Maiden

Coming Soon!

The Wood Maiden is a young adult, historical fantasy novel set in Central Europe during the 19th century partitions of Poland. It is the story of Dąbrowa, an orphan in Toruń who discovers that she is a leshy—a tree-shifter.

With the help of her young friend Ancia, Dąbrowa meets talking dolls, ghosts, rusałki, wodnik, vampires, stitch-witches, werewolves, sorcerers, and dragons as they travel to Kraków in the hopes of getting to Zaświaty, the magical land, where Dąbrowa and Ancia hope to attend a school for magical creatures and half-breeds.

As Dąbrowa and Ancia navigate the enchantments and dangers on their journey, they learn that family isn’t defined by blood but by bonds forged in the heart and tested by adversity. In the shadow of Wawel Castle, a looming confrontation with a vengeful dragon threatens to sever their dreams of sanctuary.

Will the bonds of a chosen family be strong enough to withstand the fires of a dragon’s wrath?

The Wood Maiden is a bewitching fairy tale of identity, friendship, and magic.
